Tenerife Hotels Guide – Hotel Locations on the Island


One of the main things to know about Tenerife is that the southside and northside of the island are quite opposite – the south side being the party side while the north side is more relaxing. The southside is renowned for its nightlife, hot weather and beaches while the northside is greener, has more of a Spanish atmosphere and is not as hot as the southern side.

Costa Adeje

Costa Adeje is located on the south west coast of Tenerife. It’s known as an upscale holiday resort and is just a short drive away from the vibrant nightlife scene of Playa de Las Americas.

Costa Adeje attracts travellers of all ages whether it’s a relaxing holiday you’re after or some activity in the form of scuba diving, snorkelling, windsurfing or enjoying a whale watching tour. There’s also a water park and golf course.

Los Cristianos

Los Cristianos is one of the most popular destinations in the island and especially so amongst older travellers who enjoy the cities laid back nightlife and relaxed atmosphere. Los Cristianos is an old fishing town and has a charm and beauty that cannot be matched by its counterparts on the island.

Los Cristianos has two world class beaches – Playa de los Cristianos and Las Vistas Beach, but if you’re not one to lie on the beaches all day, then you’ll be glad to know that Los Cristianos offers tonnes of activities to enjoy and attractions to explore. Windsurfing, scuba diving, jet skiing and banana boat rides are just some of the water activities on offer. The area is also a popular destination for fishing. Lots of companies offer day fishing trips off the coast of Tenerife.

The year round sunny climate, multitude of bars, restaurants and shops make Los Cristianos one of the top places to stay on the island. It is very convenient to Reina Sofia Airport (15 km), Tenerife Zoo, AquaPark and Eagles Park (home to a fantastic array of birds).

Playa de las Americas

For fun and sun head for Playa de las Americas! This is the nightlife capital of the island and is home to tonnes of pubs, clubs and bars where you can party until the early hours of the morning. Of course, there are plenty of spectacular beaches where you can relax and recuperate after a late night!

Attractions to see in the area include Eagles Park, the dolphin show at Octopus Aquapark or you could take a very pleasant boat ride along the coastline.
This area has lots of Tenerife hotels, some are located on the beachfront while others are located in the city centre.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife

Santa Cruz de Tenerife is the capital of Tenerife and can be found in the northeastern tip of the island. It is the best destination for shopping on the island and has not one but two El Cortes Ingles located here. The city is away more laid back than the busier city destinations of the south.

It has some nice tree lined avenues, a number of museums and art galleries, a maritime park and some nice uncrowded beaches.

The nightlife is also quite good here with the main nightlife hub being the Avenida Anaga on the waterfront.

There are hundreds of hotels located all over the island of Tenerife so whether you’re heading for a relaxing break or you want to make the most of its legendary nightlife scene then choose a resort that suits you. It’s easy to find accommodation in Tenerife if you’re on a budget as there are lots of cheap hotels in Tenerife such as 1 or 2 star apartment hotels.

If it’s something more luxurious you’re looking for then you won’t have any problem finding those either with some stunning 5 star resorts on the island.

One of the best things about Tenerife is that it is a year round destination. This year round appeal is down to the sunny warm weather, which the island receives 365 days a year, albeit it is a bit warmer during the summer months!

The high season in Tenerife is usually July and August and from December to February when visitors from colder countries in Europe flock here for sun much needed winter sun.
